Moisture and Light Degrade Amino Acids
Powdered amino acids such as L-glutamine and chelated magnesium are hygroscopic substances. This means they readily absorb moisture from the air. If the container is left open or stored in a humid environment such as a bathroom or next to a stove, the powder absorbs ambient moisture. As a result, it turns into hard clumps. Even if the chemical structure of the amino acid is not immediately destroyed, moisture entering the container shortens shelf life and makes accurate scoop measurement difficult.
Handling After Opening
Follow simple storage guidelines to keep powders loose and usable until the best before date.
- Close the lid immediately: Do not leave the container open, even while mixing your drink.
- Keep the scoop dry: Never return a damp scoop back into the powder.
- Keep the desiccant: Do not discard the small silica gel packet in the container until the powder is finished.
